About the opportunity

We’re looking for a highly motivated problem solver who loves working with people and who is passionate about delivering exceptional customer service. This is an exciting role for someone who wants to get in at the ground floor of a rapidly growing startup, connect with our amazing customers, and learn the ins and outs of our business. You’ll be one of the first hires on the customer experience team, responsible for all day-to-day interactions with our customers. Customer Service Specialists will work 30 to 40 hours a week in 6 to 8-hour shifts, including some weekends and holidays. Your ability to work non-traditional hours is a huge plus!

You’ve established a track record as a dedicated and positive team player, have a passion for making customers happy, love health and wellness, and you’re ready for your next challenge.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Deliver above-and-beyond customer service via phone, email, social media channels, and live chat
  • Become an expert on Hungryroot and spread the love of Hungryroot to everyone
  • Think creatively about ways in which we can optimize each customer’s experience
  • Support all areas of the business as needed


  • 0-2 years in a customer experience related position; startup experience a plus
  • Available and flexible to work nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Able to learn many systems quickly and adapt to change in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. You’ll be talking to our customers all day via email, chat, phone, and social, so it’s a must that you love chatting!
  • Extremely empathetic and humble, always seeking to make things right
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and a multi-tasker to the core
  • “No task is too small” attitude
  • Ability to problem solve and think on your feet
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • A motivated, positive, and selfless attitude!

  • Based in our Manhattan office just south of Union Square
  • Reports directly to the Customer Service Manager
